The short version
What is the Beamline Family Plan?
It's one monthly subscription that keeps several relatives in Ethiopia connected at once. You pick the people, choose a data bundle for each of them, and pay a single combined charge each month instead of sending to everyone separately. Each person's bundle is delivered to their own Ethio Telecom line, and none of them need the app.
One charge, once a month
The plan renews on the same day each month as a single combined charge to your saved card. Nobody has to remember anything, on either side.
The more people, the more you save
Two people take 5% off the plan total; three or more take 10%. And because the service fee is per plan rather than per person, each relative you add costs less than sending on your own.
Pause or cancel any time
Open My plans in the app to pause, resume, cancel, or change who's covered. Cancelling takes effect immediately — no notice period, no phone call.
A failed top-up refunds itself
If one person's bundle doesn't go through, only their share is refunded — automatically. The rest of the family is still covered, and you're never charged for something that didn't arrive.
Nothing for them to install
Bundles land on the Ethio Telecom line your family already uses. They don't download an app, don't make an account, and don't do anything each month.

How much does a Family Plan cost?
You pay each person's chosen bundle plus one $2.99 monthly service fee for the whole plan — not one fee per person. Then the multi-person discount comes off the total: 5% for two people, 10% for three or more.

"Sending separately" means buying the same bundles one at a time, each carrying its own $1.99 service fee. A plan covering one person isn't cheaper than a single send — that's just a bundle, and the app will tell you so. Bundle prices come from Ethio Telecom and can change; the app always shows your exact monthly total before you start the plan. From time to time we run a launch promotion that reduces or waives the service fee.
Getting started
How do I set up a Family Plan?
It lives on the Bundles tab in the app and takes about three minutes to set up once. After that it runs itself.

Open the Bundles tab
In the Beamline app, go to Bundles and choose Family Plan.

Pick who it covers
Select the relatives from your contacts — their Ethiopian number is all you need.

Give each person their own bundle. They don't all have to be on the same one.

How much do I save with a Family Plan?
Two people save 5% off the plan total, and three or more save 10%. The discount stays at 10% however many people you add. Three relatives on the Unlimited bundle cost $38.47 on a plan versus $45.72 sending to each of them separately — a saving of $7.25 every month.
How many people can a Family Plan cover?
As many as you like. The service fee is charged once per plan, so adding a seventh relative doesn't add a seventh fee, and the 10% discount applies from the third person onwards no matter how large the plan gets.
Does everyone on the plan get the same bundle?
No. You choose a bundle per person, so your mother can be on Unlimited while a cousin is on a smaller monthly bundle. You can change who's on the plan and what they get at any time from the app.
When am I charged?
Once a month on the same day you started the plan, as a single combined charge to your saved card. Every person on the plan is topped up in that run, so you don't have to remember to send to anyone individually.
Can I pause or cancel a Family Plan?
Yes. Open My plans in the app to pause, resume, or cancel at any time, and to add or remove people. Cancelling takes effect immediately — you won't be charged for the plan again.
What happens if one person's top-up fails?
Only that person's share is refunded, automatically. The rest of the plan still goes through, so one failed delivery doesn't hold up the whole family, and you're never charged for a bundle that didn't arrive.
Do my relatives need the Beamline app?
No. Their bundle lands on the Ethio Telecom line they already use. They don't need to download anything, create an account, or do anything at all each month — you set the plan up once and it renews on its own.
