About Beamline

Staying close to home
shouldn't be complicated.

Beamline was built for one specific thing: making it simple, transparent, and fast for the Ethiopian diaspora in the US to send airtime and gift data to the people they love back home — without the hidden fees, confusing top-up sites, or generic global apps that treat Ethiopia as an afterthought.

Why we built this

The problem was never the distance. It was the friction.

Airtime top-up sites that make you guess whether the money actually arrived. Confusing fee structures that change at checkout. Apps built for a hundred countries that feel like they were built for none of them. We built Beamline to fix that for one community, properly, instead of half-fixing it for everyone.

Transparent pricing

The price is shown before you send — every time, no fine print. Every airtime or data gift shows the exact total, including Beamline's fee, before you confirm.

Real delivery, not a black box

Airtime and data are delivered directly through Ethio Telecom's own network — not a third-party workaround. You see the delivery status in real time, the same way you'd track any other order.

Built for one community

Not a generic international app with Ethiopia bolted on. Every part of Beamline — the phone number formats, the carrier partnerships, the bundles — is built around actually sending to Ethiopia.

Where we're headed

Airtime and data today. More on the way.

Direct bank and mobile-money transfers to Ethiopia are in active development, at the same fair, transparent pricing standard as everything else in the app. Today, Beamline handles instant airtime & data delivery — with more on the way.
